Dr. Jaime Hughes and Team’s WalkOn! Program Takes Strides Forward Receiving an Outstanding Award: A Wake Forest CTSI Pilot Success Story

Jaime Hughes, Ph.D., M.P.H., M.S.W., Barb Nicklas, Ph.D., and team are making a difference in the lives of older adults, including those living in rural communities. WalkOn!, a group-based walking program, has shown to be an effective way to improve physical, cognitive, and social health.

 

Originally supported by funding from The Duke Endowment and, more recently, the Wake Forest CTSI’s 2024-2025 Science of Translation Pilot Award, WalkOn! has grown into a powerful initiative. Now, thanks to a new two-year award from the National Council on Aging and the Administration for Community Living Innovation Lab, the program is predicted to see even more growth…
