New Course Supports Community Health Workers and Promotoras in Advancing Community-Based Research

The “Advancing Research Best Practices for CHWs and Promotoras” course is a new practical resource for community health workers (CHWs) and promotoras, the Spanish term for CHWs. The course materials, designed to enhance their understanding of research basics and their role in improving research quality, are now available online at no cost, making them easily accessible for all in English and Spanish. This is critical as promotoras and CHWs can be integral to conducting community-based research.

 

Created by researchers and community stakeholders at the University of Michigan, the University of Florida, and the University of California-Davis, the course includes five modules: (1) Research and Communities, (2) Recruitment, (3) Informed Consent, (4) Privacy and Confidentiality, and (5) Community Health and Well-Being…
