Date/Time: Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm ETLocation: <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/S4OhK" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, 622 W. 168 St., New York, NY 10032</a> <a href="https://goo.gl/maps/S4OhK" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Room PH 20-200</a>Speaker: Po-Ru Loh, Ph.D.&nbsp;Genetic association studies over the past two decades have discovered hundreds of thousands of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with human phenotypes. However, SNPs constitute only one type of genetic variation — the easiest class to explore using existing analysis pipelines. In this talk, I will describe analyses of several other classes of genetic variation — tandem repeats, copy-number variants, and other structural variants — using new computational techniques that have revealed many large, readily-interpretable effects of genetic variation on human traits.&nbsp;Register <a href="https://events.columbia.edu/eventregext/uereg/init.do?href=%2Fpublic%2Fcals%2FMainCal%2FCAL-00bbdb71-91bc1483-0191-bda56c87-00003e8c.ics&amp;evcontactemail=aa5133@cumc.columbia.edu" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">here</a>.
