Reproducibility Rounds are a new international monthly webinar designed to foster open dialogue and exchange of experiences between institutions, researchers, and other stakeholders on the critical topics of research rigor and reproducibility.
Rounds are organized by the Stanford School of Medicine’s Program on Research Rigor & Reproducibility (SPORR), in collaboration with Columbia, Duke, Harvard, and Indiana.
Date/Time: Tuesday, October 22, 2024, 12:00 pm ET
Location: Zoom
Speakers: Shai Silberberg, Ph.D., Director for Research Quality at the NIH National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroked Devon Crawford (NINDS) and Devon Crawford, Ph.D., Program Director in the Office of Research Quality at NINDS.
Research quality is about more than just complying with policies. All humans, including scientists, are prone to unconscious biases that can profoundly impact the outcome and interpretation of results. Reducing unconscious bias, improving transparency in reporting, and minimizing the element of chance enhance the predictive value of research. Our speakers will provide real-world consequences of what happens when research quality goes wrong and describe efforts from within NIH to ameliorate some of the cultural drivers behind these issues.
