Bibliometric Data Sources and Indicators Online Course

We are happy to announce the 2024 edition of the course Bibliometric Data Sources and Indicators to be organized online for the Americas. The course is provided by Leiden University’s Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) in collaboration with the Galter Health Sciences Library at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. CWTS, located in Leiden, the Netherlands, is a world-leading research center in the field of bibliometrics and scientometrics and an important provider of high-quality bibliometric statistics. Galter Library works closely with Northwestern University’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (NUCATS) to provide support on evaluation and continuous improvement.

 

Schedule
The course will be held online during office hours in the Americas from November 18th until November 21st 2024 with sessions scheduled each of the four days from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. ET.

 

Aim
The course provides an introduction to bibliometric data sources and indicators. The course covers the fundamentals that professional users of bibliometrics need to be familiar with.
After completing the course, you will:

  • Know the various bibliometric databases and their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Have a solid understanding of the definition, calculation and interpretation of a wide range of bibliometric indicators.

 

Audience
The course aims to serve (university) librarians, research policy staff and anyone else with a professional interest in bibliometrics.
