Group Goals
The overarching goal of the group is to provide clinical and translational research training for the next generation of the biomedical research workforce. The group includes academic and professional staff leading and managing programs funded by NCATS T-awards (e.g. TL1 and T32). These programs include pre-doctoral students in Ph.D. programs, year-out programs from professional degrees (M.D., D.P.T., D.Pharm., or other professional doctoral programs) and post-doctoral trainees in traditional post-doctoral fellowships, residencies or clinical fellowships. It is recognized that within an institution the core funding is from NCATS, but other students may be supported by funding leveraged from the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), other training grants, foundations, individual National Research Service Awards (NRSAs) and institutional funds.
Foster collaboration and sharing of best practices among programs.
Foster collaboration with the workforce development initiatives of NCATS and the CTSA Program Consortium.
Define metrics that can be broadly applied across programs and integrated with other metrics of outcome success.
Facilitate networking mechanisms, among program graduates, to enhance their ability to succeed in clinical and translational science careers.
Develop a robust evaluation process that will lead to an improvement of outcomes.
