This working group aligns with national efforts to standardize clinical research roles and competencies, creating a sustainable, scalable pipeline that translates educational experiences into workforce readiness, enhances professional identity, and strengthens the translational science enterprise. The clinical and translational research enterprise is experiencing a well-documented workforce crisis characterized by high turnover, insufficient pipeline development, and increasing trial complexity. Early exposure to career pathways has been shown across health professions literature to improve recruitment, retention, and workforce diversity. By introducing clinical research education earlier in academic trajectories, this initiative aims to improve awareness, preparedness, and equitable access to the profession.
