Mimi KimEinstein-Montefiore Clinical and Translational Science Award HubJune 12, 2024The pod suggests a fundamental shift in the structure of future CTSA program meetings to increase the opportunity for discussion and brainstorming among attendees, e.g, multiple, longer concurrent sessions on different topics where most of the time is devoted to dialogue between the presenters and audience, or one full day of informational sessions followed by a half-day of group discussions/breakouts only.

Vesna GarovicMayo Clinic Center for Clinical and Translational ScienceMay 23, 2024The Pod led by Mayo Clinic PI, Vesna Garovic discused the Fall CTSA Program Meeting and had the following feedback. Feedback for the CTSA Fall Program Meeting: • More time for breakout sessions and fewer presentations would enhance the opportunities for discussion across CTSAs. • The poster session: providing food and beverage at the poster session would enhance the poster session and networking. The judging of the poster session is probably not needed, being nominated by your hub to present can be added to a CV. A divided physical space was clearly not ideal. Having the posters hung earlier in the day, with the opportunity for people to browse them during breaks, would enhance viewing. This is standard at many scientific meetings. • Suggestion: group organization for dinners might be beneficial. Trainees might benefit from the opportunity to go to dinner with leaders from other Hubs. This would require some organization. • Management of the meeting: It’s a big meeting and complicated. The members acknowledged that it isn’t an easy thing to manage such a large meeting. More professional meeting management may be needed.

Jessica KahnCincinnati Center for Clinical and Translational Science and TrainingMay 22, 2024Feedback for Steering Committee 1. The distinction between translational research and translational science is still a high priority – may be a topic for the SC to discuss. 2. Continued education about RC2s would be helpful – Pablo Cure’s discussion with our hub last month was helpful.
