Collaborative Workshops

The CCOS Center uses team science to promote and support collaboration across the CTSA Program. Team science is the method of promoting collaboration in a scientific community to accelerate scientific progress. Collaboration and team science are key to advancing scientific discoveries and are a significant part of CCOS’s mission. Organizing and conducting Collaborative Workshops, previously known as Un-Meetings, is one method CCOS uses to promote team science and collaboration within the CTSA Program. Collaborative Workshops are a critical tool CCOS uses to encourage multidisciplinary partnerships and foster ideas.

As part of the transition from CLIC to CCOS, the Un-Meeting has evolved to a Collaborative Workshop. CCOS will continue to promote team science with the CTSA Program by organizing and conducting Collaborative Workshops and other activities.

About Collaborative Workshops

placeholder
The overarching goal of Collaborative Workshops is to develop multidisciplinary and collaborative partnerships within and between stakeholders in academia, industry, communities, and government. Potential outcomes from Collaborative Workshops include collaborative research, manuscripts, publications, and identification of funding opportunities.

A Collaborative Workshop deviates from the traditional conference structure. Without the rules and structure of a traditional conference, attendees can interact in small groups. Collaborative Workshops provide a venue for connection across academic centers and between stakeholders to foster ideas, connect individuals, and develop collaborative partnerships.

Collaborative Workshops can be structured in different ways to allow those in attendance to direct the conversation and help determine the outcomes. Some workshops start off with panel presentations or 4x4 presentations, where a series of presenters have four minutes to review four slides. Attendees are provided an opportunity to discuss ideas which will inspire subsequent breakout session topics.
